Touhou Koumakyou New Classic Remilia Scarlet, clock tower
Arrive with 128 power, bomb the right cards, and timeout Scarlet Gensokyo.
Remilia Scarlet is the Stage 6 boss of Touhou Koumakyou New Classic. Easy never reaches her. You fight her on Normal, Hard, and Lunatic after two midbosses: Sakuya, then Patchouli. This page is the Remilia fight. For the six-stage resource graph that gets you here, use the stage walkthrough. Extra and Flandre are a different unlock — Extra Stage after a no-continue Normal-or-higher clear.
New Classic helps: visible hitbox, boss markers, Spell Practice, Challenge Mode. Classic is the same patterns without those overlays. Two New Classic deltas matter here: the delay on her second nonspell is shorter, and you cannot premelt her final spell before it declares. Full list: gameplay changes. Shot picks assume you already know controls.
Stage 6 structure before she opens her wings
The stage portion is long and item-heavy. A scoring player bombs the opening cancel into the collection line. A first 1CC does not, unless that wave is already a death. Keep bombs for Eternal Meek and later RNG cards.
Sakuya’s midboss includes Conjuring “Eternal Meek” on Normal and up: a messy knife field with a slightly safer pocket toward her right. Do not tunnel on the pocket. Bomb the card if the 1CC is on one life. Patchouli’s midboss is a short library reprise — hit her, collect, stop greeding. Enter Remilia at 128 power with at least one bomb and more than one life. If Stage 5 Sakuya already spent that, the credit was over before the septette started.
Shot recommendations
Marisa A (magic missiles / Stardust Reverie) is the best default. Missiles still reach her when she steps sideways, and the extra damage shortens Scarlet Meister. Reimu A (homing / Fantasy Seal) is the survival pick: she can leave the column and still tick Remilia. Reimu B needles are excellent if you can hold the lane. Marisa B laser plus Master Spark deletes HP in a column and fails when she walks off it. First Normal 1CC: Marisa A or Reimu A. Spell Practice each card on the difficulty you actually play. Normal Remilia is not Lunatic Remilia with the names filed off.
Nonspells
Her nonspells mix aimed bursts and dagger rings. Stay below her, stream the aimed portion, focus the leftovers. Later nonspells throw daggers clockwise then counterclockwise from a random start angle. Bottom-hug and look up. Pick the gap, then stop moving. After a card ends she often starts the next nonspell fast — skip a full PoC if it would drop you into that first dagger. Boss markers help when she dashes off-screen; pre-move, then focus.
Spell approach — Normal names, Hard/Lunatic upgrades
Heaven’s Punishment “Star of David” (Normal) / God’s Punishment “Young Demon Lord” (Hard/Lunatic). Lasers fold into a star. Joints spawn bullets. Waves are static once rotated. Get into the larger laser pockets and stay under her so you are not clipping square hitboxes on a diagonal. Memorize on/off timings.
Nether Sign “Scarlet Netherworld” (Normal) / Hell Sign “Mountain of a Thousand Needles” (Hard/Lunatic). Rain and lanes, or needle mountains. Read the falling lanes first, then deal with the circle she plants around herself. Do not climb into the rain to shotgun unless the lane is already clean. Bomb this on Lunatic if the 1CC is leaking; walk it on Normal.
Vampire Clock / Divine Art “Vampire Illusion.” New Classic’s HUD may label the clock-tower cycle Vampire Clock; the same family is Vampire Illusion on Hard/Lunatic. Treat it as a timed rotation: clones or afterimages, aimed knives or lasers on a clock face. Stay under the real Remilia, walk against the spin, and do not chase an afterimage off the shot column. If the cycle has already misaligned you, bomb. Capturing this card is less important than arriving at Meister with power and a life.
Scarlet Sign “Scarlet Shoot” (Normal) / Scarlet Sign “Scarlet Meister” (Hard/Lunatic). Aimed cannon bubbles that then rotate, trailed by faster junk. Meister is the 1CC filter. Each cycle has two waves: a long aimed column (the head) that spins one way, then a shorter column that spins the other. Misdirect the head, dash to the opposite side, then pick a lane in the fanned tail. If she camps a corner, take a wider misdirect and accept a slower kill. A planned bomb on Meister is correct on two lives — a death here dumps power into Scarlet Gensokyo.
Timeout versus capture — Scarlet Gensokyo
Scarlet Gensokyo is Remilia’s last card. It is a survival-leaning pattern: high HP, a timer you are meant to respect, and a screen that gets worse if you panic-strafe. Timeout is a valid clear. Capture (no bomb, no hit, HP to zero) is a score goal, not a first-1CC requirement. Bombing at 2 seconds left is how people throw a finished credit.
Drop to a comfortable height. Micro with focus — the visible hitbox is the whole point of New Classic on this card. Graze only what passes you. If you bomb, you void the bonus and still have to survive the rest of the timer; bomb only to save the life. A clean timeout is a capture for a survival card. Take it. The plan is the timer.
Deathbomb on the hit, not after the life icon drops. Recapture 128 after every death before you think about damage. Convert Challenge Mode deaths into Spell Practice on Meister and Scarlet Gensokyo, then take a real credit. When Remilia falls without a continue, Extra unlocks for that shot. Next session: Extra Stage.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers about New Classic, Classic, shot types, and Extra Stage.
Does Easy Mode include Remilia?
No. Easy ends at Stage 5. Fight her on Normal or higher. Extra still needs that clear with no continue.
Should I timeout Scarlet Gensokyo or shoot it down?
Timeout is the intended first-1CC plan. Capture without a bomb is extra score. Do not bomb at 2 seconds left on a survival-leaning last card.
What is Vampire Clock?
The clock-tower cycle on Remilia's HUD family — clones or afterimages around a rotating aim. Stay under the real Remilia, walk against the spin, and bomb if the cycle has already pushed you off her. Hard/Lunatic players will also know this family as Vampire Illusion.
Which shot is best for Remilia?
Marisa A for damage that still reaches when she steps sideways. Reimu A if you need homing to survive off-column. Reimu B if you can hold the needle lane. See the shot type ranking.
Where should I bomb in the Remilia fight?
Eternal Meek if the 1CC is dying at the midboss. Scarlet Meister if you are on two lives. Scarlet Gensokyo only to save a life, never to "speed up" a timeout card.
Can I practice Remilia without playing Stages 1–5?
In New Classic, Spell Practice opens her named cards. Challenge Mode still asks you to play the stage. Classic has no official trainer, so you restart Stage 6 from a credit.
